History

From pioneers to
a leading company in packaging

1971

1971

André Nieuwkerk starts Netherlands' first co-packing company at his confectionary factory as a contract packing company for Mars.

1973

1973

The company is growing and relocation is inevitable. In 1973, Budelpack moves to Poortvliet where André's father Evert owns a banquet factory.

1978

1978

The company keeps growing and Budelpack opens up a new company building at Paasdijkweg 15 in Poortvliet.

1985

1985

Budelpack starts with primary packing of raw products: high-tech production halls are built to pack 'naked' products.  

1992

1992

Budelpack builds a second facility in Poortvliet, specifically focussed at packaging Home Care products.

1995

1995

Seri-Envas, a contract packer in Spain, is acquired. This is the first acquisition in a series of international acquisitions.

2002

2002

Budelpack is going to specialize: all 13 facilities are going to focus on one of these market segments: Food, Personal Care, Home Care or Pharma.

2007

2007

Budelpack Poortvliet is split off from the Group and remains family owned. The Home Care division is being sold.

2010

2010

Peter Nieuwkerk, son of Budelpack-founder André and working at Budelpack since 2004, takes over the leadership of the food division. 

2014

Budelpack introduces unique On Site model: the modular production unit (MPU) makes it possible to bring the packing service to the product.

2015

2015

Partnership with FM Logistic. Foodsafe packing services can be performed at over 50 sites across Europe at any time by means of MPU systems.

2018

2018

The acquisition of co-packer Interpak takes place in 2018. In 2020 these activities are integrated into the Poortvliet site.

We celebrate Budelpack's 50th anniversary. Our customers have recognized us as a reliable partner for 5 decades!

Establishment of Budelfood B.V. for large-scale production of 3D printed food products. A worldwide first!

2024

2024

2024 marks the start of 3D food printing on an industrial scale. The production process meets very strict hygiene requirements.

Certified professionals

  • BRC

    The BRCGS Global Food Safety Standard has set the benchmark for nearly 25 years. Adopted by over 22,000 sites in more than 130 countries, the standard is accepted by 70% of the top 10 global retailers, 60% of the top 10 quick-service restaurants, and 50% of the top 25 manufacturers.

  • IFS

    The IFS Food standard is a certification system for food safety in food producing companies, which can be compared with the BRCSG Food standard. Like BRCSG, this standard is also intended for suppliers of private label products to the retailer and also has as its main goal food safety and hygiene in the food processing sector.
